Tariff Redux and Japanese Bond Yields

On January 17 President Trump threatened to impose a 10% tariff on imports from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland unless they dropped their objections to his plan to buy Greenland. The tariff would increase to 25% on June 1, unless these countries dropped their objection. The response from the targeted countries was uniformly negative and the EU said it could threaten the trade deal the EU and the US had previously negotiated.
